KET was delighted to be invited to give a talk to the Friends of the Maidstone Museum in October. It was an extremely enjoyable occasion and a great opportunity to remind the Friends of the importance of the Museum housing the Queen’s Own Royal West Kent memorabilia and the crucially important role the Royal West Kents made in the Siege of Kohima. Some of the audience were new to the subject altogether but agreed they were all thrilled to have learned something about the Second World War and their local history.
With thanks to Bob Street for allowing us to quote from his and his father’s book The Siege of Kohima which, whilst still available second hand, it has been revised and reprinted by Pen and Sword under the title We Fought at Kohima (pictured below). Thank you also to Bob White from the Kohima Museum in York who contributed slides to the presentation.
