Burma 1944: Ordinary People at War - A talk by Dr Robert Lyman MBE
York University Campus
Wednesday 1st July 6.30 for 7.00pm
On the evening prior to the annual Kohima service, we warmly invite you to join us as we commemorate and reflect on the stories of ordinary soldiers and those caught up in the war.
Dr Robert Lyman MBE will offer a compelling and distinctive perspective on the battles of the Burma Campaign, exploring key engagements while drawing out the themes that shaped the campaign as a whole.
His talk will be vividly illustrated through the real experiences of the soldiers themselves, bringing history to life in a deeply personal way. These powerful accounts, drawn from the Kohima Educational Trust's Book of Remembrance, will provide a poignant insight into courage, endurance, and sacrifice, ensuring that the voices of those who served are both heard and remembered.
This event will take place on the campus of the University of York. Drinks and canapes will be served afterwards when there will be plenty of time to mingle and to see what is new in the KET store.
Tickets are £25 which will include the refreshments.
We will send out your tickets along with more detailed instructions, timings and locations at the beginning of June.
We would be grateful if you can make your bookings by 31st May.
